Carpet
Moments Red Carpet Moments
Okay these aren't red carpet moments, and we aren't at the Oscars,
but now that I've got your attention there are many moments in our
personal lives where we want our carpet to present us with the effects
of red carpet moments.
Carpets can do many things to a room. They can add warmth and comfort
in to the decorating decor. They can create an entirely new look
and feel in a room. They can make a room warm and inviting, or serious
and business like. Carpet has personality and it can really shine
if we let it. That's why the nick name "Carpet Moments" has become
so commonly used.
All you need to do is apply your personal taste, lifestyle, room
decor, and budget and you too can have a carpet moment! Get ready
for Oscar style Ooohs and Aahs from your guests!
The color of the carpet is the first thing you think about. You
need to consider how it will interact with the interior of your
home and specifically the room you want to put it in. Do you want
the carpet to blend in or are you looking to make it a focal point
in the room.
If you are carpeting high traffic areas such as hallways and entrances
you will want carpet with resilient fibers that will resist abrasion
and wear. The pile crush of the carpet needs to be looked at because
a matted carpet looks terrible and in high traffic areas it doesn't
take long. Before pulling the old carpet have a look and see where
the problem areas were and see if you can tell what the reason was.
Then you can pass this onto the carpet people so they can address
your concerns and help you choose the right carpet for the area.
The amount of pile the carpet has is directly related to the amount
of quality fiber that goes into the making of the carpet. The better
the density of the fiber, the denser it is packed, and the better
the carpet will perform. If the carpet is thin or less dense it
will lose the surface appearance very quickly. It is far better
to buy the highest quality carpet and the highest underlay or pad
you can afford.
Some of the most used fibers today are nylon, olefin, polyester
and natural fibers such as wool or sisal. The characteristics found
in each of these fibers will define how they are used as it pertains
to color and durability. The premium nylon soft fibers are very
popular and do offer superior soil hiding characteristics as well
as a good comfort level, durability and good brilliant color palette
to choose from. However wool is still the most durable and longest
lasting.
Since the advent of the soil resistant treatments called scotchgarding
which are found on almost all new carpets, you no longer have to
be worry as much about choosing the lighter carpet colors that show
dirt and stains so easily.
All carpet today offer some type of stain resistance. If you entertain
a lot or have children and pets you will want to be sure the carpet
has a high level of stain resistant treatment. You will be able
to get different levels of stain treatments so check with the carpet
people.
Some treatments also include Odor - Eaters technology which means
you no longer have to worry about pet odors or the food spills as
this treatment will allow for better clean up.
You will find carpets vary from loops, cut pile to patterned cut
carpets. Each different product offers different degrees of texture
and appearance. The durability or each type of carpet will also
vary. The different construction style and types are designed to
meet the diverse styles of the public and the business communities.
The carpet yarn is manufactured from staple or continuous filament
fiber. Staple fiber is short 6 to 7 inches lengths spun. Then several
are twisted together to make one continuous filament. The twisted
yarn is run through a head set together to form a strand of yarn.
Each process creates yarns that produces carpets that look distinctly
different and have different characteristics.
The carpets of today are designed to work with all types of under
pad or under lays. Most carpet is cushioned but the under pad will
help extend the life, the comfort, and the look for your new carpet.
So why not give your room the red carpet moment and treat it like
it's an Oscar winner! You'll be the center of attention, or at least
your room will, when your friends gather next! | |
